Ian Weston

With a wide experience of nearly 40 years in education, following early retirement, Ian became a NELT governor from 2017 and is delighted to join Bedlington’s Local Academy Council.

Having always lived, worked and playing sport in the North East he is aware of the many challenges the area brings.

Ian’s subject expertise is in design and technology following a BA Hons/Cert Ed at Loughborough University. Ian has taught in a range of 11-18 schools in the North East through to A level. Ian has spent 14 years in senior management also obtaining a MA in Educational Management and NPQH.

As well as vast experience in pastoral care at all levels, Ian also has extensive teaching and management experience in CEIAG, sixth form transition, vocational education, health and safety, premises, including key capital building improvements and governance.

With the development of NELT and new buildings in place, Ian sees this as a very exciting time for Bedlington Academy to move forward, improve its Ofsted rating and ensure all pupils achieve their potential.
