Bedlington Academy governance

Sarah Goss

Sarah lived in Kent and moved to Northumberland in 2002. She has been a parent governor at Bedlington Academy since 2012.

Sarah's daughter is a previous Bedlington Academy and NE6 student, now studying chemistry at University of York and her son is currently still a student at Bedlington Academy, enjoying school life.

Sarah was also a governor for around ten years at the primary school that both her children attended. She became a governor because she wanted to have a hand in helping the local children, including her own, thrive whilst enjoying their education.

As a parent, she also wanted to help raise the profile of the school as it is something she feels passionately about as a qualified maths teacher and with her current job at Northumberland County Council EOTAS. Her current role involves teaching children who are not able to access their education in the standard school setting, for various reasons.

Sarah is a qualified secondary maths teacher and currently works for Northumberland County Council EOTAS which involves teaching children who are not able to access their education in the standard school setting. Sarah's varied experiences help her to see how school policies can affect students, staff and parents.

Sarah looks forward to the challenges ahead...
