Sixth form performance

In 2018, our GCSE and A level results were our best ever, placing us in the top three schools in Northumberland! Our A level results are detailed below, for our GCSE results, please visit the performance section of the website.

Key Stage 5 Sixth form data

In 2017- The progress compared to students across the country is shown below separately for A levels, academic and applied general qualifications below (there is no available data at all yet for 2018):

  • A level progress: -0.09 (2017) 0.16 (2018) (this means that students achieved what was expected, based on their prior attainment at GCSE).
  • Academic progress: N/A (this means that students achieved what was expected, based on their prior attainment at GCSE).
  • Applied general progress: 1.02 (this means that students achieved ½ grade higher than expected, based on their prior attainment at GCSE).

In 2018, the progress made in GCSE English and mathematics is not given because there are fewer than five students included.

In 2018, the average grade that students achieved is shown below, separately for A levels, academic and applied general qualifications:

  • The average grade is B- for A level and academic qualifications.
  • It is Distinction- for applied general qualifications.

The retention measure is the percentage of students who get to the end of the main programme of study in each qualification type:

  • At Bedlington, 88% (2017) 76% (2018) of students were retained on both academic and applied general programmes of study.

In 2017- the destination measure is the percentage who continue to education, training, employment:

  • 98% of students went on to full time education, employment or training.
