Exam timetables and guidance

Here you will find key information about the GCSE exams, including key documents all students must read.

GCSE qualifications in England were revised by the government in 2017 to make them more demanding. This was to ensure that students leave school with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in 21st century Britain, and to match those of their peers in high-performing education systems elsewhere in the world.

Exam conditions

Exam conditions will apply to every examination, the rules are set by the Joint Council for Qualifications and can be viewed using the links below. These posters will also be visible in any examination room.

Revision preparation

Examination boards provide very detailed information on all of their courses and their websites are the best place to start looking for additional help. They are all relatively easy to use with the sections on course specifications, past papers and mark schemes being the most useful.

The exam board websites are: AQAEdexcelOCR

Students must continue to ask their teachers for help whenever they need it and parents, as always, are very welcome to contact the appropriate teacher in school with any queries.
