Seven high achieving Year 12 students visited King's College at Cambridge University last week to see if the prestigious university could be for them.

Students were given an insight into student life; sleeping and eating in dorms and meeting current Cambridge students. They toured King's College and the gorgeous surrounding areas of Cambridge and were given helpful guidance tips about applying to Oxbridge and other universities.

The students also took part in a taster session led by Tim Flack focusing on enigmas, a subject that is valued at King’s College because of Alan Turing, a well-known computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher, and theoretical biologist. The students worked hands on with a replica enigma machine, encrypting and decrypting messages.

The students enjoyed themselves and were very impressed by what Cambridge had to offer. This was a wonderful trip for raising aspirations. Some of the students have now decided to apply to Cambridge this October.
