Students are not permitted to wear false, gel or acrylic nails and/or brightly coloured nail varnish. For health and safety reasons, nails need to be a sensible length, False eyelashes are not permitted.

Equipment
|
All students are expected to come to the Academy with:
• a bag large enough to carry an A4 file (backpacks are recommended).
• a pencil case containing pen, pencil, ruler, and rubber
Tutors and Year Managers will carry out equipment checks regularly. Where a student fails to bring the correct equipment to the Academy, this will be flagged on EASI and his/her name will be passed on to the appropriate Year Manager. From then onwards, the Year Manager will apply a range of sanctions to ensure that the student brings the correct equipment to the Academy. These sanctions might include detentions, parental contact, internal exclusions etc.
|
Mobile Phones
If students have mobile phones, these must remain switched off in their bag while at school and must not be seen, heard or used during the school day. Mobile phones will be confiscated if used in school. Should a mobile phone be confiscated from a student, it will be kept at the school office until the end of the school day, and parents / carers will be asked to collect it. The Academy will take very seriously instances where a mobile phone has been used to film, photograph or record staff or students without their permission. Our behaviour policy outlines sanctions which will be applied in these cases.
Pre-loved uniform
We recognise that we have a role to play in making school uniform as affordable and accessible as possible.
We have a range of pre-loved uniform items in school and regularly hold pre-loved uniform events. We also work with the Community Help Hub based at West End Front Street in Bedlington, who carry stock of our pre-loved uniform.
Several local charity shops also carry a stock of pre-loved uniform,
We also have a financial hardship fund which provides assistance for families who are struggling with the cost of uniform.
Please contact [email protected] for more information about pre-loved uniform and financial assistance.
Northumberland County Council also offers support to families who are facing financial hardship. Please see Family support | Northumberland County Council for more information.
