Congratulations to Alex Williams and Erin Bradley in Year 10 who were awarded Physicist of the Year this week thanks to their hard work and academic excellence in science.

Science teacher, Mrs Wright, who nominated the students for the award, said: "Both students have consistently produced outstanding pieces of work and achieved grade 8 in every assessment so far this year. They also participate in extracurricular activities and are always willing to help other students with their studies. They really are exceptionally talented physicists, resilient learners but most importantly, lovely polite young people who would do anything to help someone!"

The award ceremony took place at Northumbria University where 26 Year 10 students from local secondary schools received the award for 'their excellence and efforts in physics.'

The students were welcomed by Professor Rebecca Strachan before enjoying a lecture on the effects of the Sun on Earth by Professor James McLaughlin.

Well done Alex and Erin and keep it up!
