On Thursday 28 June, our fantastic Bedlington Academy girls' football team were crowned county champions for the second year in a row!
The girls went into their last game undefeated knowing a win or a draw would be enough to win the tournament. They knew the game was going to be tough as their opponents, Newminster, had previously proven tricky to beat. With this in mind, the team made some changes to their usual formation which enabled a 0-0 draw.
The whole team was fantastic, however a special mention must go to the defenders and goalkeeper who did not concede a goal during the tournament.
Miss McBride commented: "To participate and represent the Blyth/Bedlington area in the Northumberland School Games is a great achievement on its own but to win the competition two years in a row shows what a talented group of girls we have!
"Their positive attitude, determination, work ethic and togetherness never cease to amaze me. It is a pleasure to work with this group of players and they deserve the plaudits they are given."
Congratulations girls!
