Later this month, a group of talented students will take to the stage to perform Stuff by Tom Wells, a play that has never been performed before.
After being accepted onto the National Theatre Connections event 2019 a few months ago, we were commissioned to produce a play that has never been performed before. The play we were assigned was Stuff by Tom Wells, a fun play about a surprise party that goes wrong.
The students will perform the play three times in school, one of which will be attended by a professional play director from the National Theatre in London, who will give students feedback on their performance. The students will then have a month to perfect the play even further before performing it at the Northern Stage in Newcastle in front of a much bigger audience.
What's it about?
Vinny’s organising a surprise birthday party for his mate, Anita. It’s not going well: his choice of venue is a bit misguided, Anita’s not keen on leaving the house, and everyone else has their own stuff going on. Maybe a surprise party wasn’t the best idea?
A play about trying (but not really managing) to help.
When is it on?
