The return of the geography residential trip!

The sun was shining on Bedlington Academy students last week on our annual geography residential visit to the Lake District. Students from Years 9 and 10 along with our Year 12 A level students from our NE6 sixth form spent three days in the great outdoors developing fieldwork skills through studying rivers and rural economies.

We made sure there was some time for fun too though and included a canoe session on Ulswater where some of our brave students also opted to plunge into a cold February lake from a cliff jump, some orienteering in the dark and a hike to admire the views towards Helvellyn. Patterdale Hall residential centre were fantastic hosts as always and made sure everyone was well looked after and extremely well fed. The students all had a fantastic time and were a credit to the school and the journey home was incredibly quiet with many catching up on sleep!

It was so good to get back outside and start our fieldwork programme up again after the disruption of the past few years. Thank you to everyone who was involved and we already look forward to taking more students next year!
