Before the half term holidays, our Year 12 geographers and a group of Year 8 and 9 students embarked on a residential trip to Patterdale in the Lake District.

The group got stuck into conducting river fieldwork in Grisedale Beck - this year's cohort were by far the most efficient at collecting their data and displayed exceptional teamwork! They also took to the lake to do some canoeing and our craziest ones even did a cliff jump! It was then time for some human fieldwork, exploring the rural economy of Glenridding village (even if we did get a little bit wet!) After a delicious evening meal and a birthday celebration, students put on their head torches and embarked on their nighttime adventure orienteering in the dark in the grounds of Patterdale Hall.

To end the trip, everyone completed a hill climb to look at all the glacial features left behind. Our Year 8 students found this fascinating and it really brought their recent learning about glaciation to life. It's safe to say the views were incredible and the climb made for a very quiet bus journey home to Bedlington!
