This week, 12 talented girls from Bedlington Academy attended the It All Adds Up event at Oxford University, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Institute of Mathematics and the iconic Andrew Wiles Building.

The event was aimed at inspiring young women to explore the exciting world of mathematics beyond secondary school. Our students enjoyed thought-provoking talks, including:

  • Packing from Bees and Sailors to the Fourth Dimension and Beyond with Dr. Snezana Lawrence
  • Shape of Biological Data with Maria Torres Perez and Professor Heather Harrington

They also heard from Rachel Beddoes about where maths can take you, tackled hands-on problem-solving activities with current Oxford students, and asked questions to a student panel about life at Oxford and admissions.
It was a jam-packed day full of knowledge, history, and inspiration!

A huge thank you to Oxford University for hosting such an incredible event and encouraging the next generation of mathematicians.
