This morning we are celebrating our best ever GCSE results! With record attainment and outstanding individual stories, today we are celebrating a landmark year of academic achievement, with our Year 11 students securing the highest-ever Attainment 8 score of 47.9 – a new school record and a reflection of our commitment to excellence.
This year’s results demonstrate significant progress across the board:
- 76% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, ensuring strong foundations for future study and employment.
- 25% of grades awarded in English and Maths were at grade 7 of above, showcasing high levels of academic excellence in core subjects.
- Substantial improvements were also seen across a range of other subject areas, with students excelling in subjects such as the sciences and humanities as well as Spanish, Art, Photography, IT and Drama.
- Of the 40% of pupils who took a Language GCSE, an impressive 80% achieved a Grade 4 or above, highlighting the school’s growing strength in modern foreign languages.
Among the many individual success stories:
- Jack B achieved an incredible eight Grade 9s, placing him among the top-performing students nationally.
- Daisey P secured five Grade 9s and five Grade 8s, demonstrating exceptional consistency and achievement across all subjects.
They are part of a group of 16 students who achieved an average grade of 7 or above in every subject. Many of these high-achieving students will be continuing their educational journey at our NE6 Sixth Form, where they will study A levels and further prepare for university and future careers.
Joanna Lamb, Executive Headteacher, commented:
“These results are a testament to the ambition, resilience, and hard work of our students and staff. To achieve our highest-ever Attainment 8 score, alongside such strong outcomes in English and Maths and across the wider curriculum, is a proud moment for our school community. We are committed to ensuring every young person leaves us with the qualifications, confidence, and character to thrive. Bedlington Academy continues to build on its culture of high expectations and inclusive success, with all of our students progressing to appropriate and ambitious next steps including sixth forms, colleges, and apprenticeships across the region.”
