Bedlington Academy governance

Lyndi Roberts

Born and brought up in the Garden of England, Kent, Lyndi began her teaching career in the South East, before choosing to specialise in Deaf Education.

In 1988, Lyndi's and her children took the life-changing decision to move to Newcastle. Lyndi took up a post at Northern Counties School as Head of SEN in order to set up and lead new provision in the school.

This offered a unique integrated approach for students with complex and multiple learning difficulties and disabilities. The concept became so successful that, by the time she was appointed Head of SEN in 1994, the Department had become the major focus for the school.

Lyndi raised her two sons in Newcastle and supported them developing their interests and skills in rugby, rock climbing and martial arts – partaking in two of these alongside them! Her interests include open water swimming, kayaking, cycling, walking, reading and researching.

Lyndi is confident that her wide-ranging experience can be of significant benefit to the Governing Body of Bedlington Academy and looks forward to taking an active part in its agenda and especially in her particular areas of interest: policy reviews, behaviour management and parental involvement.
